The Mark 1 Ford Cortina was designed to be a family-sized production car. It was made to be economical to buy, cheap to run, and inexpensive to produce. They were produced with 1200c, 1500cc, and 1600cc engines, all with manual gearboxes.
This specific Cortina is a well-known street-legal racecar in the Eastern Cape. It competed in the Pre-’66 Saloon class and was last raced in 2010. This is not just any “racecar”, this is a properly built, fully kitted racecar, with the following:
- High-compression race-spec 1600cc Kent motor
- Twin side-draft carburetors
- Racing camshaft
